Eurasia
A vegetarian Lebanese / Italian /Mongolian restaurant - If you have read my earlier posts you will know that I have this thing about such cuisines being vegetarian. I can't digest the fact that these predominantly non-vegetarian foods can be made any other way. But I always try and keep an open mind when we do visit such places. Little Italy was a huge disappointment for us and when Eurasia, a franchise of the place opened up in Jayanagar, I was still skeptical. This despite the good reviews it has received on popular food review websites.Anyways, skepticism asid
French Quarter Bistro
Our neighbors had long ago suggested that we visit the French Quarter Bistro. This weekend we decided to that we had to move away from our regular restaurant haunt of Koramangala and explore newer regions. And so along with friends Pavan and Preethika (who is finally done with her year of vegetarianism) headed to French Quarter Bistro. The restaurant is on CMH road and is right now a bit difficult to get to thanks to the metro construction. Anyways, we got there and the first thing that impressed us was the decor. Mangalore tiled roof each embedded with a rectangular glass that allowed a lot of natural lighting in. Day time does not require any artificial li
Mamouniye
This is an easy dessert that features in my mom's recipe book. Its a Lebanese sweet dish and is great for those who don't have ovens and can't bake. Its simple and does not take too much time to put together.Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups of semolina (rava), 2 cups of sugar, 3 cups of milk, 1 cup of orange juice (the packaged ones are fine), 1 tbsp of almond sliver and a pinch of cinnamon powder.
Kohinoor
Last weekend was quite a disaster in terms of the restaurants we went to. Of course we know that with the good comes the bad as well. But two restaurants in a row that sucked... not too nice on a weekend. Anyways, this time round, things were much better. We decided to go low budget over the weekend and Sudhakar suggested we go to this place called Kohinoor on Brigade road. Almost all of his colleagues are regulars there and some frequent the place so often that their retirement jobs there are confirmed :)Kohinoor is more of blink and miss kind of place. Its bang opposite KFC and that's about as much of directions as you will need. The place can seat around
Ada Hind Ki
We visited Ada Hind Ki this past Sunday based on the suggestion of Harish who happened to drop in on my blog recently. Since Anoushka is now being groomed into be a restaurant junkie like her parents, she asked us where we were going? When we told her, she decided to rechristen Ada Hind Ki as "Ada Hindu ki Ma". Maybe it does make sense in her baby world, but to us it served for a good pre-lunch laugh. It being Sunday, better half and junior decided to rise at 11.30 (that too after being booted out of bed). I was starving by then since I had skipped breakfast and soon we headed out to Ada Hind Ki. Got there easily enough, it being on Museum Road (its on the sa
