On the DL 275 - World Series Finale. Jordan. New Jersey Corruption. More.
First and foremost, we congratulate the 2009 World Series Champion New York Yankees. They were the best team all season and were clearly the better team in this series. We taped this show literally three minutes after the final out, so Nick and I talk about the game, the series and spend a good amount of time looking at the fact that both of these teams are stacked for next year. If Vegas isn’t picking Yankees-Phillies for a World Series rematch next year, they aren’t watching the same sport as us. The Phillies, however, do have questions they need answered. Who is in their rotation next year with Cliff Lee, JA Happ, Joe Blanton and Cole Hamels? Is it Pedro? Is it Ja
On the DL 274 - Game Six. Press Box Racism. Colbert. Dexter. Mad Men.
We make up for a crappy show Monday and no show Tuesday with a longer show today, spending the first 20 minutes talking about the World Series and the next 25, or so, talking about other stuff we’ve clearly been neglecting. First, the World Series. We break down the pitching match-up for tonight’s game, including reading some quotes from the starters and having Nick pick which guy said what. They are eerily similar if you read the quotes from both Pedro Martinez and Andy Pettitte. So what do we expect tonight and what are the chances that we’ll get a Game Seven tomorrow night? We discuss. We also talk about my story at Sporting News about Chase Utley’s c
On the DL 273 - Seriously Don’t Even Listen
Went to bed. Didn’t want to do a show. Woke up. Didn’t want to do a show. Not just because of the way Game Four of the World Series ended, but because, well, it’s Monday, we had some other things to handle in the morning and ----Okay, fine. That sucked. And we bitch about it. Then get needlessly optimistic. Have a good chuckle Yankee fans. I’m one game closer to owing Iracane a sandwich.Frankly, we only taped this show today because Nick said we’d be pansies if we didn’t. And I didn’t want to be called a pansy today. Not by one of you.
On the DL 272 - Ricky Bottalico Interview
Ricky Bottalico, former Phillies All-Star reliever and current studio analyst for Comcast SportsNet, joins the show after Game Two of the World Series. We talk about the Series thus far and look to the next few games, especially Game Three on Saturday. But first, we get a lot into Ricky’s career after playing in the big leagues. How great is it for him to be back in Philly in the analyst chair for pre and post game duties of a team in the World Series? And we talk about the decision to become an analyst -- was he hoping to fast-track his way to any major league market, or was it important for him to get the ‘call up,’ so to speak, from the Phillies? Bottalico explai
On the DL 271 - World Series Game One
We recap Game One of the World Series and talk about the incredible pitching performance of Cliff Lee. There was a question on the post game show in Philly if it was the best pitching performance in a Phillies uniform, given the circumstances, that any of the guys in the studio had seen. Darren Daulton was there and he caught Curt Schilling’s 2-0 WS Game Five shutout. He even said that Lee’s performance was close, and maybe even better. It was a joy to watch, and I hope that non-rooting baseball fans felt that way as well. Yankee fans, not so much. We also discuss how the rest may have helped Chase Utley and how the lineup is full of professional hitters who know how
