Moose are back....
With all the deep fresh snow moose have arrived to graze on underbrush in at lower elevations. We're always happy to see them. Baby moose walking through the peace garden...breakfast in the front yard...mama moose finding tasty morsels up high.
"Black Friday" New Snow
We got a foot of fresh snow today. It was coming down so fast and heavy that I thought we might capture it on video. You can see the snow falling in the video, but the most interesting thing is the sound of chickadees in the background. Listen for the chickadees it's magical!
Thanksgiving 2009
Happy Thanksgiving! We have fresh snow on the ground. I'm watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Greg is in the kitchen preparing dinner. We're going to start the eating festivities off with a relish plate of celery stuffed with cream cheese, and peanut butter. Hadley's dates stuffed with cream cheese. Fancy Dutch cheeses. Alaska Federation of Natives... missed it...
The Alaska Federation of Natives was in Anchorage this past week and although I had the opportunity to go over and listen to the speeches and volunteer at our Department's booth I felt I was too busy to go. Of course, most of my office co-workers went back and forth across the street all day depending on what was going on. I'm regretting that decision now, because it would have been an amazing
Sam Beam Concert
One of our favorite singer songwriters came to Anchorage, Sam Beam. He is better known for his band Iron and Wine. But this time he came by himself with just his guitar. We enjoyed the concert very much; he was fantastic. Because of his style, the organizers wanted to create a more intimate atmosphere and held the concert at UAA's Wendy Williamson Auditorium.
