Fungus Among Us

This past week was a week of completing things!  It feels good to finally reach the finish line on several items.  One of those projects was the Mushroom Sculpture for the Highland Park Art Center’s Magic Garden Exhibit.  Throughout the summer several blocks in downtown Highland Park, Illinois are t

A Sneak Peak

There’s a Fungus Among Us!  And It’s Starting to Grow….Just What it Will Be, You Will Soon Know! I’ve been stitching away on a piece for an outdoor sculpture for Highland Park’s “The Magic Garden” Exhibit.  This is a departure from my usual work, so it has been fun.   I have another week to [...]

A Typical Week? Never.

What does a typical work week look like for me?  There is no such thing.  Last week was one of those weeks. (This also helps to explain why I’m not always at the studio, and why it’s best to call ahead if you want to see me!) Monday I headed up to Lincolnwood, IL  with [...]

23 Thank you’s and TGIF

We’ve had unseasonable, record breaking temperatures for Chicago this week and with the time change the sunshine has been a blessing.  But despite all of that it has been a challenging week.  Nothing in particular.  Sad news about a distant once close family member.  Un-explainable fatigue.  Too muc

How We Spent Columbus Day!

For us Columbus Day means time for fun in the studio!  The kids had the day off school, so they channeled their energies to create some spooky Halloween decorations!  We started the day with our “Day’s Off School” in the Oak Park Arts District  program.  A fun group of children came in and felted a

Spinning Out Of Control!

Of the many things we did in the studio this summer, one of the most fun for me had to be spinning with a drop spindle.  In the past I had always thought that it made no sense to spin my own yarn.  Really, does it make any sense to add another level of time [...]

Fashion Camp Follow-up!

What a fabulous summer we’ve had in the studio.  A big part of the fun we’ve had was our Fashion Design Camp.  As part of the Oak Park Arts District Summer Intensive Art Camp program, Germaine Caprio of Majamas and Pamela Penney spent each morning for a week with a group of young designers showing t

Where did July Go?

It was a fast, fabulous and fun month here in the studio. July means teaching kids the fun of fiber and fashion! We have in the last four weeks had a Fabulous Fiber Art Camp, a Fun Fashion Design Camp, 10 different sewing and design students and a couple of knitting students and we aren't done for
