Ortega Fire in Southern Orange County, CA
I had a late portrait session this afternoon at the Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club and from the course you could see the smoke billowing from the Ortega Fire.  This image was made right before sunset.

Editing for the book today and while going through a client’s photos remembered that I had made this photograph last week at 36th Street Beach in Newport.

Busy Halloween Day
We had a fantastic Halloween weekend. Kate dressed up as Cinderella, wearing a dress hand-made by Granny Moira in S. Africa. But after Nicki bought a witch hat as a last-minute costume for the party hosted by Jason and Jodi, Kate had to get a miniature witch hat, too.  She of course wore it as she and Eva (as Fancy Nancy) made the rounds in the neighborhood.  She was costume-challenged as Nicki would say. Sparky dressed as a little alien and we kept him in the costume only for a little while.  A heat wave has set in over the past few days making it seem more like summer than autumn. Happy Halloween!
Coming home from a portrait last weekend, I noticed a huge spider and web near the house and saw the moon rising. I could visualize a photo of the two elements together, but how to make it? I grabbed the six foot ladder at the house and climbed up most of the way in order to get just the right angle on the spider, the web and the moon. This image was made all in the camera, with one exposure.
