Anak Ka Ng Tokwa!
My love affair with the lowly tokwa began as early as my grade school years, when my mother would prepare Tokwa't Baboy as pulutan for the beer drinking sessions at home. Normally, she would keep them in a large bowl inside the fridge and I remember sneaking in every now and then to eat a forkful of those delicious pieces of pig ears and tokwa. The crunch and the acidity combine to give that flavorful experience. Up to now, I consider mom's version of Tokwa't Baboy the best! (hint, hint!)In the meantime, I'm fine with Fried Tokwa (P19) available at this pares place in San Juan. More like a comfort food
Gourmet Comfort Food at Apartment 1B
Despite the sick-y feeling I had last evening, I managed to attend Ivy's intimate birthday dinner at Apartment 1B at Salcedo Village. It was a timely occasion to reconnect with my gal pals, knowing I'd be having hearty laughs over great food and wonderful conversions (this time I was more on the listening side, due to my sore throat).
