It Must Be Getting Cold In The DPRK Again
Fall is looming closer in the Northern hemisphere and nothing signifies that more than the fact that North Korea is once again willing to meet with the six-party talkers to deal on its nuclear program.  Obviously they’ve burnt up the fuel and aid that they got the last time. Surely the 7th time is the charm in these talks.
Holy Crap… Texas Revisionist History… Taught In School!
I am often stunned by the decisions that are made south of the border, but very rarely do those decisions actually leave me as slack-jawed as the yokels who come up with this stuff.  The woman speaking is a member of the Texas Board of Education (or, perhaps, Ministry of Truth, I’m not sure).  She is actually asking if some of the seedier parts of American history can be removed from textbooks in order to leave behind only the brighter moments. Maybe she’s an environmentalist looking to save paper?  I dunno. I do wonder, though, if these people realize that
New Sales Tax Policy Doesn’t Go Far Enough
Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty was talking with reporters today about the new policy of some provincial governments with regard to tax harmonization.  Ontario and British Columbia have both adopted a plan to implement the policy and will do so in the coming months. But there’s something missing from the sales tax policy. That is, of course, making the sales tax invisible. It’s done in many countries around the world, and in fact it’s even done here in Canada (gasoline, cigarettes, to name a few). The inclusion of the taxes into prices would make purchasing easier for individuals – not that it’s especially hard to calculate
