Gearing up for fall
School is starting. I know. Volunteer service seems like that one extra activity that we can eliminate from the dance lessons / church / sports practice / homework / scouts / etc. list of things we have to fit in every week.This school year, I challenge you not to do that. Make serving others as much or more of a priority than piano lessons and soccer. If you've started a good habit of serving with your family, keep it up. This is especially easy if you already have a regular rotation somewhere. If it slipped by you this summer, then start up a new service project along with the other things that are starting up and it will become a natural fit into your schedule.

Well, after a frustrating summer of trying to connect with agencies, finally we have run across a couple that have really gotten it right.Last night, I sent a message to West End Cat Rescue. By this morning, I had an email with very specific information about how we could help. This is another volunteer run pet rescue agency, just like the first 2 I contacted, but the difference in how they responded to a potential new volunteer is amazing. (For the record, we never heard back from agency #2.) We are exploring our kitten foster care options through both WECR and the SPCA, but just their willingness to give me info
