An Afternoon with Astrid
At work corporate has put out a call for employee puppy pictures. I sat down today with Astrid to try to get some good shots. But she didn’t want to cooperate. No really, Astrid. I need a picture of you. “No, don’t look at me! I’m hideous!” Oh, come on, Astrid. “No, see, I’m a … Continue reading →

Ramble-Review: Lasher by Anne Rice
Oh my Gawd, you all, Lasher is one of the most WTF books I have ever read, much less one of the WTF Best Selling Books I have ever read. The crazy, where do I begin describing it? Lasher is the sequel to The Witching Hour (*coughcough* my ramble on that is here), it continues … Continue reading →

Every Aspiring or Beginning Author Needs to Read This
Read this story about a badly misbehaving publisher. Notice how there were warning signs, you know, like the fact that the antho doesn’t pay at all, not even a contributor copy. Also notice the completely crappy quality of covers (and editing) that’s typical for the press. Now for good measure googl

Review: Going to the Moon by Lavie Tidhar
Dear Mr. Tidhar, I’ve been struggling with how to review Going to the Moon for two weeks now. First, I’m a fan of yours, so I was predisposed to like it. But it’s hard to not like a children’s picture-style book with a mature language warning on the outside. The tale of a little boy … Continue readi

Mo*Con 2012
So we’re all back from the infamous Mo*Con, and by all I mean the whole family went this time. It was Mister and Mini’s first stay at a hotel and first con. I think it was a great choice because they already knew some of the people, I knew all the folks I knew there … Continue reading →

Review: Zombie Raccoons & Killer Bunnies, edited by Martin H. Greenberg & Kerrie Hughes
I’m not sure what should be expected from a book with a cover like this, even if it is supposed to be full of camp. Zombie Raccoons & Killer Bunnies is a collection of 15 tales of supernatural animals, from, um, zombie raccoons to killer bunnies and alien bats. Unfortunately most of the stories end

Review: Zombielicious by Timothy McGivney
Zombielicious is equal parts sex and zombie apocalypse, in a fast-paced, over-the-top tale of finding love in the middle of disaster. Twins Molly (a spoiled brat whose greatest aspiration is to win a singing contest and have people do what she wants) and Walt (a perfectionist deeply ashamed of his s
