Personal raves and rants from an American in Canada. Occasional political stuff, lots of whining, and the odd write up about my experiences as a professional paranormal researcher.

The more things change...
...the more they stay the same. Ten years ago I joined a group called Toronto Ghosts and Hauntings Research Society and 4 years later became part of its newly formed umbrella organization, PSICAN (Paranormal Studies and Investigations Canada). Although I did a huge amount of work getting that orga

Rockin' Chair
SO last night my man took me to see a coupe of Canadian bands--fortunately these were big enough that I had heard of them in the US, even played them on the radio when I was dj-ing. We went up to Casina Rama in Orillia, Ontario, fully armed with $20 each to blow on slots. We're big spenders that wa

At least there are pillows.
What a day. I'm on a train again, and thankful for it. I awoke in my New Jersey hotel room at 11am. My first thought was “wow the clocks must be wrong because my alarm hasn’t gone off yet.” It’s true the alarm did not go off, but that’s because it was set only for weekdays and this is Saturday.

No Turns
I'm pretty sure that is the State Motto for New Jersey. It's a variation of 'you can't get there from here." Someone in highway engineering figured that left turns just screw everything up, so you pretty much can't make a left in NJ--until, of course, you can. Confusing? Definitely. Most of th

The Adventure Begins
Watching the scenery go by from the train while listening to the ipod is surreal. The music adds a layer of melancholy that invites a sense of lonliness Im not used to feeling. There are lots of people on the train, 12 in my car that will hold only 14. I have a single seat by the window, having m

Quitting again
So Im on day four of not smoking. Harder today, probably because I get to be home alone and I have lots of computer stuff to do. Plus, being Saturday afternoon, there's nothing on TV.You see, I smoked excusively at my computer. Not in my car, not watching tv, not just sitting around. I only smok

Weird dream
Dad and Jean lived in NC near the beach in a large mobile home. My girls and I were visiting, and the girls were about 6 or so. There was a lot of laundry to do. The girls were playing with a couple of Mexican kids, whose parents were also around, as was another guy of middle age and a guy named

Too Liberal?
Some of my colleagues are having a discussion about judgement. The gist of the conversation is that "you can't judge a book by its cover". That we should "accept" everybody.I called bullshit.I believe we have just as much right to shun people based on how they look as they have the right to look u

Recipes and Memories
Earlier this week I was recruited to handle the tea and coffee desserts at hubby's church. I have a committee meeting there after the service anyway, so I was planning to go. So I will be cooking and baking treats for about 40 people for Sunday morning.Typically they have cake, cookies, cupcakes,

On Blogging
My biggest failure as a writer is my lack of discipline. I never have a shortage of topics on which to write, or a shortage of opinions to share. What I lack is the connection between wanting to do it and actually doing it. So I’ve networked my blog in hopes it will guilt me into writing it regu
