Too Late, Too Little
Our potatoes were not planted until June since we got a late start after that incident with Hank. Late start + deer who love to eat the green tops = small potatoes no matter how much manure you use and how persistent you are at weeding and hilling.

First Snow
Our first snow. I don’t remember it snowing this early in the fall before. Earliest snow I can remember (in recent history anyway) was around Halloween a few years back.

Visions of Fall
Summer is ending which means big storms, big winds and big clouds. The leaves are changing quickly this year. Poplars have even lost most of their leaves already.

Time to take the pigs
It’s time to take the pigs! It’s been difficult to reserve a time with our local processors. They book up quickly! As a result, we are sending these pigs a little sooner than we wanted, but we are going to the processor we wanted so hopefully it will work out. This year we are going to Bryan’s in Smithfield, PA. It is a short drive for us. We have heard great things about this place. Here we are getting the pigs acclimated to the trailer. We have learned it makes them easier to load when they are dealing with something that is familiar.
