You all leave comments on this blog filled with superlatives about how I’m working or what I’m working on — they mean the world to me. But there are many areas at which I show no ability. Time management is one of those things. It’s not that I use my time poorly. I don’t think that’s the case. My problem with time – I have little talent in understanding how long things
Filling the kiln.
I’ve been toying with firing the kiln half-filled. I have several memory boxes that are dry enough to fire, but not enough to fill the kiln. I dislike firing unless the kiln is full – it’s not an efficient use of energy – and, obviously, it is cheaper to fire a full load when figuring it per piece. So what to do?
The solution? Make a few smaller pieces. They will be dry enough to fire in a few days.
Oink! Oink! goes the piggy.
I must be a pig. How else does every surface in the studio fill with stuff?
This is not an exaggeration. It’s like an Art Bomb blew up in here.

The two sculptures in the studio are coming along.
The big dog I call Frank has progressed a bit. I’ve got to keep his feet and legs wet — they really want to dry! Not yet! Pretty pleased with this one, so far.
