We will take a critical look at how atheists are characterized by politicians, the media, and the greater culture, and we will likewise evaluate the strategies and tactics of activist atheists as they pursue their goals. I write from the perspective of one who believes that atheists do in fact deserve to have their voices noted with a weight that reflects their numbers and the merits of their arguments. Invested in that end, I hope this blog will add to a wider discussion that will bring about a more robust and dynamic secular politics, and bring nonbelievers out of marginalization and into the mainstream of our wonderfully diverse culture. |
