I currently live in the small town of Darby, PA. It's a town that is barely known by people who live in Philadelphia, despite the fact that it actually borders Philadelphia. Sometimes when I tell people that I live in Darby, they say "Oh Upper Darby?". Then I have to go on describe to them its exact geographic location by naming other small towns near by. I was shocked when I went on Wikipedia, and learned that the last U.S. Census taken in 2000 listed Darby as having a population of approximately 10,000 people. Ivan "Orthodox" Barias and his producing partner Carvin Haggins have created countless hits for many of Philly's very own, such as Musiq Soulchild, Jill Scott, and Jazmine Sullivan. They've also worked with other notable superstars in the music industry like Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and Mario. Today's hip-hop and r&b producers are notably more famous than the artist they produce for, but some producers such as Ivan have no problem staying away from the spotlight, while continuing to gain praise and recognition from their peers. What can I say? I haven't been very inspired to blog lately. I've been having other things on my mind, like my future. But I have not given up on my blog.
