Miscellany

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind: a birthday, chicken pox, a small knitting breakthrough and our village May Fair (washed out I'm afraid). The jewellery-making has been a joy recently, with several special and very lovely commissions and lots of teaching. It's an old story, I've spoken of it

Garden-inspired

I'm increasingly realising that the garden and the things that grow in it are an essential part of the jewellery that I make. I stand washing up at the sink and can see clumps of forget-me-nots, cowslips, primulas, bluebells, miniature narcissus and pulmonaria. They're like tiny pastel fireworks. Th

She was excited about wearing woolly tights again. I was not. We wondered whether we could hatch a plan to help those who are less than

Knit Relief

I've been following the blog Teen Granny for a while now. It's written by a sixteen year old who bakes fondant fancies that would make Mr Kipling weep. She has also whipped up several people, including Prince William, made of knit. It's an excellent read.Readers of my blog will know that yarn skills

One foot in Winter, one foot in Spring

Just days ago winter definitely had us in its grip. There was snow and freezing temperatures. Yet today there is a mildness to the weather. There is sunshine and bees. We're on the cusp of Spring.Despite the hopeful change in the season things have not been so easy for us here. It's been a week when
