It Takes Time to Get to the Future
"Roman wasn't built in a day."I think that's how they put it. Great things may be coming, but they take time to get here.Which is unfortunate.I'm currently working on three major projects right now... all of them awwwh-summm! But when can I tell you about them? That's totally unknown because, well, it's going to take time. And my wife won't let me work much over 40 hours a week, so I can't exactly powerhouse through these things either.And I want to get them right. Education sans Academics
So much learning takes place outside of the academic setting. Here's one example that we got to participate in yesterday:Tower BuildingMotor skills, physics, color and shape recognition, socializing... naturally with just a bucket of blocks.
Learning to Listen
When the girls first got here a few weeks ago, they weren't particularly interested in listening to books. When offered, they politely declined. They did, however, beg for the same story to be read to them again when it was bedtime. I suspect, however, that their motivation had more to do with the alternative than to the enjoyment of a story.I have often read comments from parents who say that their children simply don't like to listen to stories. Several families have shared that Sonlight simply didn't work for them because their kids didn't want to listen to the books.
