Description: After spending my first 5 years in Mexico in Melaque on the Jalisco coast I decided it was time to make a change – for various reasons. Those of you that have followed my site and blogs may know the situation – and those that don’t may run into it on the Blog. Anyway, I’m now living in the Lake Chapala area which is closer to many interesting highland locations and away from the heat, humidity and beach tourists. Have come to no conclusions but think it’s a good next start.

Monarchs Now Arriving in Michoacan
November 6, 2009 This news just in: The monarchs arrived in large numbers yesterday at Mexico’s winter sanctuary region. The news was announced by biologist Eduardo Rendon, who heads World Wildlife Fund-Mexico’s Monarch Butterfly Program. “Today, all of the roads that lead to the Monarch Reserve are full of butterflies,” he reported yesterday. Evidently the monarchs began to arrive on Sunday and Monday, when the first trees containing clusters were found [.....]
Chapala artisan fair
Yesterday I was asked to go along on a shopping trip, found myself in downtown Chapala and remembered the Art Fair. Since I’d never been and Marilyn had – I opted to check it out while she continued her shopping. Very cool and worth the 50 peso admission. The paper art and weaving were my favorites and it was good to see the Cocucho potters making an appearance. Talk to the weavers [.....]
My new chicken
About 10 this morning I was listening to a chicken making a racket and since we have chickens in the neighborhood I didn’t pay much attention. Then the racket sounded just outside the backdoor so I’m off to check it out. Turns out there is this white hen being chased around the yard by one of my cats. I tried shooing her out the front gate but that’s not where she wanted [.....]
