Kiddo's First Practice (or How My Head Nearly Exploded)
I played competitive softball for around a decade. Before that, I played baseball and t-ball. So basically, I've been playing ball for most of my life. This would probably explain my understanding of the game, my die hard fandom, and my difficulty coming to terms with anyone who doesn't like or unde

The Kiddo's First Day of T-Ball (or What Do You Mean, He Needs a Cup?)
When I checked my email this morning I was very pleased to findĀ an email from the Kiddo's new T-Ball Coach (henceforth referred to as "Coach"). Aside from introducing himself and indicating that tonight will be the first practice, he suggested that all parents ready their children with rubber cleat

Writer's Block
Things have been pretty silent around here for a few weeks and for that, I apologize. I seem to have been struck with a rather severe case of writer's block. Multiple times now I've started some pretty awesome posts. I get about halfway through them and somehow things come to a grinding halt and the

Quick update
So for the past two weeks I've been writing up partial posts. They never seem to get finished, they just sit there taunting me from their half-done state.... I don't know why I've had such a hard time finishing posts lately, but I promise I'll start trying harder. In the mean time, here's a quick up

It could have been any of us
Recently in the local news there was a story of a man who beat his girlfriend's toddler to death. The little boy, who was two and a half years old, was home with his mother's boyfriend while she went out to run an errand. Being two and a half they were still in the midst of potty training, and that

Force is not the answer
I didn't think that I would ever have to clarify this for anyone ever.... But just in case anybody is wondering:No. You absolutely, positively cannot force a relationship to work. You cannot make somebody love you. You cannot force feelings that aren't there. You cannot pester and nag somebody into

And today is the day it ended
I can't do it anymore. I simply and absolutely cannot do it. Fighting for two weeks was something that maybe we could work through. Calling me all weekend to intentionally make me feel bad for not being able to make the trip down there was pushing some serious limits. Calling me around 20 times from

Skip over this post if you want to avoid a rant/vent
What do you do when you feel like the spark is gone and the fighting just isn't going to end? For two weeks now we've been fighting and each weekend FF has left me with new reasons to end things. The first weekend it was the kid commentary. This weekend it was his unwillingness to pull his weight in

So this is where we're at now
Okay, so after a bunch of texts that were annoying me more than anything else, we finally got to talk....And I tore into him.I explained that on the list of things not to say to me, what he said ranks right up there at the top. And I told him that yesterday my mind was just about made up that th

I didn't sign up to be in a relationship with your kid
Of all of the things you don't want to say to the single parent you're dating, that ranks up there with "I hate that you have a child." In fact, those phrases are basically interchangeable, in that if you say either one you'll no longer be dating said single parent.Welcome to the conversation I had
