Language: English
Topics: Black Women, Health and Fitness, Wellness
Description: Sweet Potato Pie is an African American health and fitness blog for women. With 50% - 60% (80% for black women over 40) of us classified as overweight or obese it is high time we did something about it. It is long past crisis stage and the primary purpose of this blog is to act as a community for African American women who are seeking to take control of their lives and get fit and healthy. Losing weight is hard. And it is even harder if you’re going it alone. Studies show Black women, more then any other group, need strong group support if they are going to be successful in their weight loss efforts. Sweet Potato Pie wants to act as that support and be a place for women to talk about their exercise triumphs, failures, fears, successes and to flat out whine as they work to achieve their weight loss goals and ultimately a healthier lifestyle

Comment on Dangit..Part II – No More Excuses by Lynn
Way to go Tracy. I love hearing peoples’ weight loss stories. When you start doing it, isn’t it like “Why didn’t I think of this x amount of years ago?!” I used to be real fit when I was younger but after having my family alot of self care fell by the wayside. But I’m ready to get back in the game! Thanks for your site. My best, Lynn

Weight loss is possible only with a combination of exercise, the right nutrition and some education on losing wight. With regular exercise, it is possible to improve one’s metabolic rates and muscular strength, which in turn helps in burning calories.
Comment on Dangit Monique!! by Ayana
I’m 110 lbs and, honestly, I’d give anything to be thick and attractive. I’ve tried force feeding myself, Ensure, working out, even weight gain pills, and nothing worked. It’s quite frustrating, too. I know I’m supposed to appreciate myself for how I’m made, but it’s kinda hard when u got men around you chanting “the bigger the better”. Any suggestions?
