Description:	Coming to France from a civilized country (Australia) necessitates a seismic shift in understanding. The French are simple people, little advanced since the Revolution (1789) although they have built a tower since then. During WWII half the country were heroes and the other half sided with the enemy (Vichy France). Those in the latter group (and their descendants) try to conceal their relationship. The town of Vichy still has a very unpleasant aroma. Much of France is beautiful but it is generally bereft of beautiful people. The blog represents the impressions of an international man in a backward country (but he likes the President's latest wife).
