Unexpected
I didn't expect to like The Girls from Ames, which is why I pretty much disregarded it when it first was released. I don't know why it didn't appeal to me--the story about 11 Iowan girls who have maintained forty-plus years of friendship is probably tailor-made for my demographic. It didn't sound horrible...it just didn't grab me right off. So I left it on the table.
But at the library last weekend, there it was on the new releases shelf, and something compelled me to pick it up this time.
It's not the best thing I'll read all year, but it certainly has been pushing my emotional buttons. I'm not sure that it's going to result in a journalistic masterpiece of chronicl
Not Sleeping Tonight...
...Because the DH and I watched Paranormal Activity this evening and I'm still feeling somewhat freaked out. Thank goodness for a deadline and some stuff to dull my mind...
Meanwhile, still haven't decided on whether to finish Kim Harrison or start Echo,, so I brought home two new books from the library and will start reading them instead of making a decision. Don't you just love how my mind works?
One of the books is a bio of Louisa May Alcott, which I'm looking forward to reading. Little Women has always ranked very high on my list of all-time favorites, and Alcott herself was a very interesting woman. Looking forward to this one.

Because I honestly don't have time to do this, but I just realized I haven't posted since before massive illness swept over my house like a hoarde of raving locusts, so here I am! I'm here!
Meanwhile, Stephen King's latest, which was pre-selling at $9 or less, is now officially out...and back up to normal pricing. Which means A) I so should have bought the thing on the presale, B) probably won't hit that puppy until it arrives in paperback...or the library, and C) who am I kidding, I'm buried so far underneath the TBR pile that it's a miracle I'm still breathing.
