One tactic to turn around a church by Tom Harper 11/5/2009 As I have talked to church consultants, pastors and leaders, I’ve concluded there is one thing any pastor can do to quickly transform his church, no matter how unhealthy it is. Many authors have expounded on this turnaround concept, so I can’t claim originality. In fact, the Bible itself prescribes it. But it bears repeating, because the church isn’t listening. The foundation I don’t know about you, but I’m getting tired of hearing countless researchers and experts decry the Lord’s institution as ineffective, out of touch with culture, full of pride or antiquated.

Have you ever planted a garden? I remember as a child having my first garden. I had to prepare the soil by tilling the ground. At the time it seemed an impossible task until I realized I was not alone or left with just some instructions. A close friend of the family, Mr. Langhorn guided me through the steps of tilling the ground and removing the weeds. I learned later that the soil had to be properly prepared to receive the seed so that it might have the best chance of producing fruit.
