I used to think that I mattered. I used to dream that, one day, when I was long dead and some biographer or literary critic from the next generation of creators went rummaging through my things, that what he found would give him insight on the myriad individual I fancy myself today. Accordingly, I’ve labeled my books with my name, the year purchased and year read. Poetry with its exact date and location, as well. I’ve kept all but a couple journals from high school and college, the missing ones either lost, burnt, or given away.
