Why Does it Seem So Hard?
We go through life and it seems like it takes all of our effort just to "survive." We get home and there are meals to fix, bills to pay, and work to do at home or things to do because we have over committed. Grocery shopping, family commitments, hanging out with friends... it just seems to take over our lives.We don't want to fall away from God, but it just seems to happen because we become so obsessed with what is going on in front of our faces. Unless we make the concrete choice to pursue that relationship with God, before we know it, we are in a place where the relationship has weakened. It would be the same as a marriage that gradually fades into the background as a couple s

It's Not Illegal
There are millions of excuses for why we cannot be awesomely holy. Why we cannot pursue sainthood.One of the worst reasons is to plead that a particular action that we want to engage in, that we know does not bring us closer to the heart of God is not illegal.There are a lot of things that are not illegal.There are a lot of things that Jesus didn't address specifically.If you want to find a reason to do something, and you are going through a lot of effort to justify it, or at the very least you come up with some excuse like, "It's not illegal" or "Jesus never talked about this SPECIFICALLY in the Gospels" then you and I should probably pause.

Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music and her martyrdom in the early history of the Church is the subject of numerous rumors and legends. The story has it that she pleged herself to perpetual virginity and prayed that she would be protected in a time when it was not considered the norm to remain a virgin.When she was married to a man named Valerian, she told him of her vow and implored that he honor that. When he was baptized, he was able to see the visions that she was seeing. His brother was also baptized and to reward them for this, they were martyred by beheading which was ordered by the mayor.Cecilia during the course of this time had been preaching and won

Have you ever noticed that when you try and do a thorough job picking up an area, that it often times becomes even more cluttered in the process? We decided to move the older kids to the attic and my library to the basement, which became the event of the summer. I have thousands of books and we literally (pun intended) had to move them all from top to bottom, taking up days of our time. This in and of itself is a full-time endeavor, but to make matters more crazy, certain furniture the girls w

Perspective is something that we continuously forgetting which many times leads to anger when we think that what is going on right now is the be all and end all of everything that is going on."Of course I am angry about this! If this type of thing were to continue... well it just needs to be fixed right now!"I think that wisdom allows us to have a peaceful perspective when we are confronted by situations that cause issues.
