Garlic Scone; the weekly update
 Well..... We're not quite ready to move in the easy chairs...  But progress is being made.It's the little things that always puts one behind schedule, especially when working with an old house.He had to remove the door that goes into the pantry in order to lay the tiles.  It took almost 2 hours to get the screws on the hinges out.....Now we have to figure out what to do with the fireplace.

Mon mari was a little, um, testy today. We finally got off our bottoms and decided it was time to get back to our French lessons.Part of the problem of living out in the middle of nowhere is, there's no one to talk to.If we lived in town we'd have neighbors.  We'd have people to talk to.  We'd be able, or rather forced, to practice our French.But we can't live in town with our big dogs.So, the only people we have to talk to are our British neighbors.That doesn't help our French - although we'd probably be able to understand their French.....We joined a conversation group.So far there is us, (American), a British couple, two French wome

It's been a busy week, chez nous.Actually, they're all busy, but this one had photo-graphical accomplishments.I bet you forgot about my kitchen, still missing the majority of the cabinet doors.More doors were added this week. And, finally, my oven is 'built in' rather than hanging around all exposed.
Beef in Barolo; the harvest
I ate the entire harvest of our pomegranate the other afternoon.  It was delicious.Apparently, one is not supposed to trim pomegranate trees in the spring.We trimmed ours.This was our entire harvest. On the other hand, we have two ten-gallon buckets full of walnuts and left as many on the ground.As to the crab apples.... There are probably a million on the tree, but I really couldn't think of anything to do with them (Jellies are no longer on our list of treats).
