China Prepares for Second Moon Mission
China made two major announcements in regards to its space program Friday. The country has announced plans to launch a second lunar probe in October next year. In addition they are working towards the possibility of sending out a manned mission by 2017. Their ambitious plans continue with their intent to plan a Mars mission in the future.
China’s probe, the Chang’e 2, is an upgraded version of the Chang’e 1 which was sent to the moon after a 16-month mission concluded in March. The new probe will carry a camera with better resolution, allowing for more detailed pictures and data to be carried back to China.

European Union Announces New Leadership Nominations
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso nominated the people he wants filling the 26 positions for the EU who will be serving the group for the next five years Friday. Newly elected individuals will be taking over the reigns and tackling major issues in climate change and the economy.
One of the most notable position announcements revolves around the new climate minister. Barroso nominated Connie Hedegard, Denmark’s climate minister who was put in charge of hosting the December UN climate conference in Copenhagen .

iPhone to debut in South Korea on Saturday
South Korea is constantly trying to remain on the forefront of the latest technological trends. Now Apple’s iPhone will be joining the market, and is set to be released in South Korea on Saturday.
Apple will be entering a market already dominated by Samsung and LG Electronics, with the former cutting the price of their similarly designed Omnia2 as a result of the iPhone’s release. Together the two companies sell around 90% of cell phones in South Korea.

Early Signs Look Promising for Black Friday Sales
The economic times are not deterring shoppers on Black Friday. Shoppers around the country are arriving at major retail stores in large masses to take advantage of deals offered at the beginning of the holiday rush.
Stores such as Wal-Mart and Target saw major business in the early morning hours, as consumers rushed to purchase hot items such as electronics, and even more expensive cookware and jewelry. Meanwhile, higher end retailers such as Macy’s are experiencing less traffic than usual.

Spanish Royals Divorce, Seek Annulment From Vatican
One of the Spanish royal couples signed divorce papers on Wednesday.
The Infanta Elena de Borbon, eldest daughter of Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, and Jaime de Marichalar formally ended 14 years of matrimony. Officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Lugo, the couple separated two years ago. Marichalar has been stripped of his title as Duke of Lugo.
According to a release distributed by the couples' lawyers - and not the royal house - the Infanta will maintain custody of the couples' two children, Felipe and Victoria. Marichalar will provide his children with a monthly stipend.
