Tragicomedia is an oral history project conceived by memory artist Nancy Gershman to prove "laughter reminds us to breathe." Bi-monthly Nancy interviews comedians of every faith, age and ilk (stand up and sketch actors, comedy writers, humorists, playwrights) who themselves have witnessed and labored in the face of death and dying - some as family or friends; others as hospice workers, chaplains and clergy. We see a parallel world where her special guests - unencumbered by political correctness – relate how an absurd, childish or ironic perspective helped them find meaning, relief or protection from loss and regrets.
As Outsiders and Insiders, they become philosophers. If you know someone in the funny business who should be interviewed for Tragicomedia, contact Nancy at 773-255-4677 (NYC) or firstname.lastname@example.org. For details on Nancy’s dignity and legacy portraiture, visit www.artforyoursake.com.
