YMCA Small Fry Basketball
The Kaufman County YMCA is offering a winter session of Small Fry Basketball. This program is for boys and girls ages 3 & 4 who would love to see what it’s all about with out having to play on a “team” in a league. The session lasts for six weeks and each group of up to ten kids will be assigned a coach to lead them through learning skills, followed by scrimmage games. Each child will receive a T-Shirt and Trophy! It is a great way for your child to learn the sport of basketball, meet some new friends, and have FUN. Forney ISD Earns 54 Gold Performance Acknowledgements from TEA
AUSTIN – The Forney Independent School District was recently notified by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that the district had been awarded more than 50 Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPA) for academic achievement during the 2008-2009 school year. The district earned a total of 16 more GPAs in 2009 than it did in 2008. In 2008, the district was awarded a total of 38 GPAs. The TEA Gold Performance Acknowledgements recognize districts and campuses for high academic performance on various indicators, such as commended performance on Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), college admissions tests and Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate (AP/IB) examinations.

Forney High School Choir Christmas Concert
The Forney High School Choirs will present their Annual Christmas Concert on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Forney High School. Prior to the concert, the choir will host a Dinner/Fundraiser for the Forney High School Choir Booster Club. The dinner/fundraising event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Forney High School Cafeteria. Tickets are $15 per person, and kids under 5 eat free. Historic Overlay Zone Public Hearing
Citizens are invited to attend a Planning & Zoning Commission meeting to hold a Public hearing to discuss a proposed Historic Overlay Zone. Forney Santa Cops Events for 2009
In October of 2008, Forney Rotary Club paired up with The Forney Police Department to create a local Santa Cop Program. Santa Cop is an organization that can assist local families whom were nominated by the community during the holiday season. Christmas 2008 was our first year for the program and we feel it was a great success. Santa Cop delivered a turkey or ham with a box of additional food, toys and clothing for each child in the home. Ages ranged from infant to 18. All school age children are enrolled in Forney school. Santa Cop delivered to 46 families with 108 children.
