Cookbook Mania! James Beard's Menus for Entertaining
I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!
It's indispensable. Particularly if you ever give large, I mean LARGE cocktail or holiday parties. He's got every area of party-giving covered, from late breakfast, to ladies-only lunches, to dinners, buffets, cocktail parties, outdoor parties and big celebrations. Some of the recipes might look dated to the more modern palate, but don't judge a book by it's cover--hahaha, sorry.
No, seriously. The Dean of American Cookery will not steer you wrong.

Straight Up Pimpin'
I got an email recently asking me if I'd like to receive some free pomegranate juice from POM Wonderful. Well, I really like that stuff, so of course I said yes. Soon after, I got a little box of eight bottles of deliciously refreshing pomegranate juice. I'm going to take an educated guess that the POM people would like it ever so much if I talked up their product, so what you are getting today is a recipe for a pie I made for yesterday's Thanksgiving feastivus.
Look--teeny tiny POM bottles. Each held one cup. Very cute. This juice also tastes grrreat as a mocktail with some fizzy water and a slice of lime or lemon.
Happy Thanksgiving!
May you all carb-load around a festive ping-pong table, then fall into a wine and turkey-related coma!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I was all set to post a totally different recipe but at the last minute changed my mind because 1) It's Thanksgiving on Thursday; and 2) I happen to be making a couple of these right this very second. They are in the oven as I type this and they smell so dang good that I want to go steal a spoonful right now.

Published!
Yes, like on real paper in an actual magazine-type thingy, for pay and everything. I'm sure that if you are in Sacramento I've already told you about this, but my family and friends out of town haven't seen it because it's not online. Besides, it's pretty darn exciting for me. I'm adding some of my photos because the magazine had their own photographer and didn't really take many pictures of the food, which is the real money shot, if you know what I mean.
