We met (and fell in love with each others clothes!) in an Herbal Apprenticeship program in our hometown of Grass Valley, California. We both love fashion, art, herbalism, nature, music, and community, and we are lucky to live in a special place which has both great natural beauty and a tremendous culture of the arts. Nevada County is in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California, and has been home to sassy rebels and well-dressed visionaries since the Gold Rush days. The "Haunted Threads" which we hand pick for our Etsy shop come from our beautiful and soulful world, and we are so happy to find the right person for each special piece! |

Hello everyone! Sorry for the long silence, but things have been movin' and shakin' at Violet Folklore. We have great news: the shop has done so well that we are actually able to expand into our own individual stores on Etsy! Amber is going to continue to run Violet Folklore, and Sasha has opened her own store, Astral Boutique. We will continue to bring you the same great folksy, fabulous threads that you love-- and now there will be even more of the vintage bounty! Amber is not going to blog here regularly, so please connect with her at her

Retail Therapy: Junkee Clothing Exchange, Reno, Nevada
My first newsflash about Nevada's most amazing clothing store came last December, when Chris and I were swept into a Santa Pub Crawl in Reno. My new best friend, an inebriated reindeer, couldn't get over my red lace 80s vintage dress, and she told me that I had to go to Junkee. When I came home, I looked it up online, and was won over immediately by a video of the employees dancing around the store in a choreographed routine, wearing incredible dresses and having waaaaay too much fun!
