Blog Name: What's up wit hthe language of this map?

Language: English
Topics: maps, 1820s, religion
Description: The map here is very confusing. The wording is very mean, for example, Savage? Barbarian? Why does it use those words instead of something else? The map was titled the American view of the world in the 1820s and as you can see america is enlightened, but what does that mean? This means that from the point of view of Americans anyone that is not like them is uncivilized or savage or barbarian. And why does it pick only those three religions to show? All the places that are shown as Christian are the civilized and Enlightened places. While the pagans are barbaric. This means that they thought very low of the people with different religions. Another thing is the spelling, places that are mispelled can mean that there could bbe a possible fued happening at the time the map was made. While correct spelling can mean peace.
