Language: English
Topics: addiction, chemical dependency, drugs
Description: My name is Joanie Berry. I started this blog in 2005-2006 out of a need to write and log the struggles of dealing with drug addiction. I was crying out to God, (with a heart sickness that only a parent of an addict could understand) as fast as my mind could scream the commands to my fingers. My heart was aching while watching my two children, "circle the drain" of death. They made choices and I had no control of whether they lived or whether they died. Losing a child is bad enough. But waking up every day wondering if "today will be the day" is hell on earth. Some parts of the blog are just imported sermons that I needed to hear that day. Some parts of the blog contain the material from the Bible that we taught the kids at church and how that information in God's Word applied to my life. Some parts are sermon notes from a particular teaching. Every moment of every day I am trying to give my children to God once again, because HE knows and controls the future. I wanted to share a wonderful website that God is using in my life: www.Pureword.org. Sometimes, behind every addict, there is a heart sick person. That person needs help just as much as the addict. God led me to this website for "continuing education" in His Word as He deals with my heart sickness, sin, and sorrow. As the blog is rightly named, WHEN- I lay my addicts down, because I tend to get wobbly and pick them up again thinking I can control things. Actually, they are not MY addicts at all. They are His. If God prompts you, please pray for me as I keep on making the choice to lay Matt and Lindsay at His feet. "Ignorance is fixable, stupid is a choice", quote from Pastor Randy Nurmi.

God protects the vulnerable by Maureen

Why does He do this? He does this because He does not want those who oppress to continue taking advantage of the weak. We see news reports of those who have been victimized and our hearts are wrenched. The Lord’s heart is purer than ours and He does not sit idly by. He is judging and bringing these things to light.
