Violated

Hadnt realised how much I’d built into the online identity. How Google and Facebook and Smartphones had become as essential as air, food and water.  I never used them much. Only bare minimum. Then I found out my phone and accounts were being monitored. And it felt violated.   Filed under: Uncategori

Panchgani, Mahabaleswar [Oct 2011]

A weekend getaway. To Panchgani. During the Dushera holidays :) And it’s taken me all this while to get down to posting about it. I want to capture the memories. Before they get buried deep along with all the other travels. Highlights: Flowers everywhere! Clumps of tall (really really tall) yellow f

2012 Plan

This spin on  Dag Hammarskjold’s quote sums up well my plan for 2012: Be Quieter, Simpler, Warmer & Firmer. Smile more. Fret less. Share. Play. Read. Travel. Dance. Write.   Filed under: Musings Tagged: 2012, simplicity

Ritual comfort

A strange emptiness hits me every festival season. Growing up, I hated rituals. And I made it a habit to rebel against every tradition.Though we didnt have too many. Being a “Jain”, there were no poojas done at home for any festivals. The rituals, if they can be so called, involved going to the temp

A tall order

Reading “Committed“.  Quite an analysis of the history and evolution of marriage :) Wondering – are my/our/this generation’s expectations from love and marriage way too high? Over the last few decades, we’re moving to a mode/culture, where the individuals choose their spouse. And increasingly we wan

Of airports and flights and travel

There’s something about airports that I love. I get a rush when I’m at the airport. I like sitting there, watching people. A slice of life. A slice of their life. When all else stops. When you’re forced to almost doing nothing. Out of your daily routine. In a limbo of sorts. Time stops in [...]

Before Dawn

.. the world is so different. Been heading out by 6am each day the last week, er ahem, to gym. As I drive out, the entire world is asleep. It’s silent. It’s the only time I drive with the windows down. Feeling the cold air. It’s pitch dark. With just a few street lights on. [...]

Money may not buy you happiness, but it can buy you a voice. And options.

Got into a debate of sorts about ‘women in the workforce’ and ‘financial independence’. Here’s my 2 cents on it. I’ve come to believe women MUST work outside the home – at a paying job. Because having a steady income is the most empowering tool for a woman. It entitles her to a voice of [...]

Why my weight is none of your business.

While we’re talking of numbers here… let’s talk about weight. Why is everyone so obsessed with it ? And who are you to decide my “ideal” weight or to say I’m overweight. Especially if I’m fit and not flabby. Triggered by my trip to a professional gym. After 4 years. I signed up – for [...]
