An Intro to Machiavelli, Teacher of Future Rulers
Niccolo Machiavelli was anything but a teacher of evil. His writings better characterize him as a scientist of politics taking an unbiased view of the political landscape around him. As a biologist seeks to better understand life by understanding its origins, Machiavelli looked for the origins of political life saying “different types of government developed among men by accident. “ (Discourses Bk 1, Ch. 2; Morgan, 532).
