Hurricane Watch: Ida
12:30 PM Sunday Looks like Hurricane Ida is leaving the Yucatan and heading for Louisiana. Our intrepid Khaki, News Reporter for Yucatan Living, who is living outside of Cottonport, LA, sends us this report: What are you sending up here??? We just went under a hurricane watch about an hour ago… army helicopters are flying over (headed south) now - I’ve got all of the vehicles away from trees and all of the car windows rolled up… so let her rip. My only worry is the freezers. I’ve got Thanksgiving and Christmas meat already bought! and tons of shrimp… like over 100 lbs! Hang on, Khaki!

Cleo is a two and a half year old female. A sweet dog who gets along well with people and other dogs. She was found abandoned when she was about 4 months old by a biology student. It is an unfortunate and common occurrence that many pups and young dogs are abandoned simply because they are female, and that appears to have been the case with Cleo. She has been spayed and is very healthy. She is playful, very affectionate and demands cuddling and attention. She currently resides in a local dog sanctuary a

There are times when living in SOME (South Merida) can be tiresome. The voladores (homemade fireworks) go off sometimes for hours on end at decibels too loud to be neighborly, the dogs bark when they should be sleeping, the old men sleep on the sidewalk when they should be walking and life is less familiar and sometimes less comfortable than up in the Gringo Gulches of Santa Ana and Santiago, let alone the modern North. But when the traditional holidays come around, they are celebrated in our neighborhoo
