Introducing Yucatan Expatriate Services
When we, the Working Gringos, moved to Merida a long, long time ago (or so it seems, anyway), we knew little to nothing about Merida, the Yucatan or Mexico. We were enchanted with the city and the culture, but we didn’t know how to buy a house or pay the electric bill. For the first six months, we didn’t work, but we spent a lot of time finding our way around, getting to know people and learning how to live like Yucatecos. Some days, successfully ordering Pollo Brujo over the phone was considered a big accomplishment.
Ours was the total opposite of hitting the ground running.

One Dog, Two Kittens

We are looking for a home for two 8-10-month-old lovable tabby sisters. One is extremely affectionate and craves attention. The other one is a little bit shy but very friendly. Both are petite.
They were born next door and originally were our neighbor’s pets for the first 4 months of their lives. Alas, the neighbor moved and left the kittens behind. Since then, we have been taking care of them. They have remained outdoor cats, but could easily be indoor/

Mexico’s Oldest Resident Passes Away
Ana Maria Perez Gonzalez has passed away in Colima at the ripe old age of 119. She was born on June 22, 1890. This lovely lady had 4 children, 2 of whom are still living. She also had 30 grandchildren, 122 great-grandchildren, 105 great-great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-great grandchildren. Our deepest sympathy goes to her family.
