Curry chicken salad
I love curried chicken salad. Its such a 50's cocktail party kind of food, but so good. I've avoided making and eating it for a long time, negative associations with a friend who turned out to be NOT a friend... but that's kind of a foolish reason to limit culinary possibilities so, I made it yesterday.
Eggy Beany Cheesy
On arrival in America, my sister brought us home to the apartment she shares with her charming fiance in Brooklyn. Its kind of a classic NY 500 sq ft. deal complete with screaming upstairs neighbor, mice and tiny kitchen. My sister is whippin' up some grand food out of that tiny kitchen, though.Afterwaking up at 3am and putting PeeWee's Playhouse on for the kids in a desperate gambit to get them to sleep, we eventually gave up around 5:30. Aunty and soon-to-be Uncle made us this most delicious skillet breakfast:Saute some chunks of chicken sausage in a 10" cast-iron frying pan with onion and tomato until sausage is cooked through and vegetables are soft and carmelize

That and I've been terrorized by food activism to the point of paralysis (see previous post)....BUT the boys prevailed upon me to get them their favorite Jade Garden Dumplings last night. I offered to make dumplings, but Mr. Dumpl
Grubby enough for ya?
I've been reading this book, Grub, since I got home from Dubai. I also watched the movie Food, Inc. on the plane which is certainly likely to put one off eating certain American foodstuffs. So I'm grocery shopping in a bit of a panic. Consciousness raised (by fear...) and all that. Its all kind of a lot to deal with. For example, I bought 2 1/2 gallons of milk in NY because my sister took me to a groovy supermarket in Brooklyn before we headed home... The package says Organic, Grass Fed Milk. BUT come to find out, its not technically organic milk
